Federal Nutrition Programs and Fee Updates: Resources to Support Huron Families

Huron City Schools continues accepting applications for the Federal School Lunch Program, which provides free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch to eligible students. Proper nutrition is fundamental to student focus, energy, and academic readiness.
Program Eligibility and Benefits
Families may submit applications whenever household income circumstances change. Students qualifying for free meals may also receive waivers for certain school fees. The application includes an optional authorization allowing eligibility information to be shared with other school departments to maximize available support.
2025-2026 Fee Structure Updates
The Huron Board of Education has approved suspension of Pay-to-Participate fees for extracurricular activities during the 2025-2026 school year. Classroom supply and consumable fees remain in effect and will be assessed by individual schools.
Unpaid fees from previous academic years are considered overdue and will carry forward. Families should contact their child's school main office to establish a payment plan or remit payment in full.
Additional Community Resources
Several resources serve Huron families beyond the Federal Lunch Program:
- OHgo Mobile Food Pantry: Operates on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month
- School-Based Pantries: OhGo supplies pantries in each district building, accessible to all students
These resources are available to any student in need. Teachers and school counselors can assist students in accessing these support services discreetly and efficiently.
