Huron City Schools is proud to participate in Rachel’s Challenge, a national program inspired by the life and legacy of Rachel Scott, the first victim of the Columbine tragedy. Through assemblies, classroom activities, and ongoing student-led initiatives, we are committed to building a school culture rooted in kindness, respect, and inclusion.
Rachel’s Challenge empowers our students to look for the best in others, speak with compassion, and take positive actions that create a ripple effect of hope throughout our schools and community. Together, we’re creating a more connected and supportive environment where every student feels seen, valued, and inspired to make a difference.

Huron City Schools is proud to offer the ROX (Ruling Our eXperiences) program—a research-based initiative designed to equip girls with the skills and confidence they need to navigate life’s challenges and lead with strength.
Through ROX, girls learn how to develop healthy friendships, manage conflict, communicate effectively, set boundaries, and stand up for themselves and others. The program is led by trained educators and mentors who guide participants through engaging lessons and real-life strategies that foster resilience and leadership.
By building self-confidence and empowering girls to advocate for themselves, ROX helps create a generation of strong, self-assured young women ready to lead in school, in their communities, and beyond.
At Huron, we believe in every student’s potential, and we’re proud to support programs like ROX that help our girls rise.

Huron City Schools is proud to implement Sources of Strength, a nationally recognized program focused on enhancing student well-being and strengthening school communities through peer connection and resilience-building.
This evidence-based initiative trains students and trusted adults to serve as connectors to help and hope, using real-life stories of strength to shift culture, break down stigma around mental health, and promote positive coping strategies. By focusing on protective factors like family support, mentors, healthy activities, and generosity, Sources of Strength helps students see their own value, lean on their strengths, and support others.
Together, we're building a culture of empathy, strength, and belonging—where every student knows they’re not alone and that their voice matters.

Huron City Schools is proud to partner with the Cleveland Browns and the Stay in the Game! Attendance Network—a statewide initiative aimed at improving student attendance and engagement across Ohio.
Chronic absenteeism can impact academic success, personal growth, and future opportunities. That’s why we’re committed to making school a place where every student feels safe, supported, and inspired to show up and succeed.
Through this partnership, we’re not just focusing on attendance—we’re building a culture of belonging, support, and motivation. When students stay in the game, they keep learning, growing, and achieving their goals.
Let’s show up strong, Huron. Every day counts. Every student matters. Let’s Stay in the Game!
