Message from the Principal

Mark Doughty, McCormick Jr High PrincipalWhether you're new to McCormick or returning for another year, we’re excited to have you as part of our school community. Our team is committed to creating a positive learning environment where every student is challenged to grow academically, socially, and personally.

At McCormick, we believe in the power of partnership between students, staff, and families. When students put forth their best effort, and that effort is supported by strong instruction and encouragement at school and at home, great things happen. Together, we can help every student build the skills and confidence needed to take charge of their future.

We also encourage students to get involved. Whether it’s athletics, music, clubs, or student leadership, there are many opportunities outside the classroom to connect, contribute, and grow.

If you ever have questions or concerns throughout the school year, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our goal is to ensure all students feel supported, valued, and prepared to succeed.

Let’s make it a great year—and as always, remember the McCormick Mantra: KCR 24/7–365.

  • Thank You for Your Interest in Volunteering at Huron City Schools!

In accordance with Board Policy IICC, all school volunteers must complete a background screener before beginning service in our buildings.

To simplify this process, Huron City Schools partners with the Background Investigation Bureau (BIB) to offer an online background check at no cost to volunteers. Results are valid for three years (36 months), and you'll receive an email reminder before your clearance expires.

If you need help during the submission or approval process, please contact SecureVolunteer support directly at clientservices@bib.com.

    Please note:

    • Processing may take up to 5 business days.

    • Once completed, BIB will notify both you and the school office of your approval status.

    • Please plan ahead and complete this process before your scheduled volunteer service or field trip.

We appreciate your willingness to support our schools!

The Huron City Schools Board of Education values the knowledge and talents of community members. Volunteers play a vital role in our schools. To ensure student safety, any current or prospective volunteer who may have unsupervised access to children on a regular basis may be required to complete a criminal background check (BCI) in addition to the standard screener.
